Today (July 25, 2024) is the fourth day of the biennial Farnborough International AirShow in the United Kingdom, and tomorrow is the last day for non-specialized visitors to see the air shows. In fact, there are airplane shows every day, only the models and time are different. I think the biggest function of the airshow is to advertise the current status of aircraft to both the public and the military. Most of the audience, especially the professional audience, will also have the opportunity to enjoy the real performance, which is usually not easy to see, there will be a sense of beauty, stunning and shock, and even a sense of mystery. They will be able to understand how the products they design and produce are used in the aircraft, and what features they add to the functionality or performance of the aircraft.

The picture below is the U.S. B52H aircraft performance, we know that the B52 aircraft is decades old aircraft. But because it is a long-range bomber, yesterday's show, the audience did not know from what place to take off, nor do they know where to land, the audience saw from the left front slowly fly to the right front, a total of less than a minute, even if the show is over. Maintain the mystery of the B52 aircraft performance did, may also be expressed to some extent the principle of confidentiality of military aircraft. B52 aircraft flight is completed, most of the audience left the viewing place, back to the exhibition hall to go, visible B52 charm how much? How beautiful is the flirtation?

Gu is not a military fan and has not inquired about the following helicopter models? Every day these days, there are performances. Take off, land, land and then put the military down, land and then put the car down, land and then put the motorcycle down, at the same time, rotate in the air field for a period of time, and then land and bring the military up to the sky, it should be a practice helicopter deep behind the enemy's back process. 。

Of course, Gu's public articles are not going to be about airplane shows, we are still focusing on sensors. Of course, we're focusing on sensors in the aerospace field, because we're talking about sensors, not airplane air shows.

The first time Google participated in an air show, at least Van Paul's air show in the United Kingdom. Compared to the Valley Brother to participate in industrial exhibitions at home and abroad, information electronics exhibition, consumer electronics exhibition, intelligent exhibition. Sensors exhibition, Internet of Things exhibition, etc., there are some obvious differences, here spit one or two or three, may also be personal bias or superficial knowledge.

First, a lot of machine manufacturers, whether it is a large aircraft, small aircraft, hybrid aircraft, pure electric aircraft, drones, air taxi, etc., or missiles, rockets, tanks, armored vehicles, etc., machine manufacturers occupy a very large display space, on which the Valley brother has not had the opportunity to look at Boeing, Airbus, etc., a special venue, it is said to have no invitation not allowed to enter the field to visit!

Secondly, the engine is of course the most important component of the aircraft, and it is also the most technically difficult component, which is known as the “jewel” of the high-end industry. There are a lot of large and small engine manufacturers on display. The famous RR, cfm is also set up a separate pavilion, Gu has not yet had time to go in and have a look, it is said that you need an invitation letter.

Thirdly, “do not know the true face of Mount Lushan, only in this mountain outside”, the line is like a mountain. To Gu is surprised that the four main exhibition halls, a variety of different materials (stainless steel, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, composite materials, etc.) and a variety of parts made of various materials. Titanium alloy, composite materials, etc.) and a variety of materials processed into a variety of parts. Including the simplest bolts and nuts and more complex 3D printed parts. Occupying a considerable number of booths, Gu did not seriously count, at least 1 / 3, or even more. Whether it can be simply said that the aviation industry Aerospace industry is the main and most critical materials industry and processing industry. This year's Farnborough International AirShow in Shaanxi Province came to 12 companies, in addition to our Xi'an Chinastar M&C Ltd is to do electronic products, that is, sensors, the other eleven to go to the materials and materials processing enterprises, seemingly very lonely.

Fourth, originally thought that the aerospace industry avionics systems, flight control systems, environmental engineering systems, autopilot systems, aircraft landing systems, are very important components of the aviation industry, will occupy a large space, but according to Gu toured the four exhibition halls, found that there are indeed do navigation systems, inertial guidance systems. Flight control systems, but the number of companies is very small, can account for 1/10 exhibitors is also good.

Fifth, the exhibitors of the sensor companies even less, there is an agent of the United States Honeywell, S.D. and other companies in the United Kingdom agent. Although Amphenol exhibits, but the main exhibition is connector, did not see its sensors; Drucker exhibits some aviation and oil sensors, especially pressure sensors; there is another U.S. company to do aviation weighing sensors; of course, the U.S Sensata Sensor Company; another German company to do mechanical and fiber optic gyro.Gu also visited these companies, introduced Xi'an Chinastar M&C Ltd mcs high-end pressure sensors in the aviation industry applications, hoping to establish a win-win relationship, rather than purely competitive relationship.

Today, July 26th, is the last day of the Farnborough International AirShow, not too many visitors, there are all kinds of airshows in the afternoon, and in the morning, I was at the booth “waiting for rabbits”.

The German company across the street from our booth is a landing gear system manufacturer, so there must be a hydraulic system for landing gears and a pressure system for tires, and my first thought was that we must need pressure sensors. With the information and foreigners to talk about the high precision and wide temperature range of our MCS, can work at minus 65 degrees. But they are marketing and sales people, most of them don't know the technical details, but the good thing is that they are still willing to accept the technical information. The search for “big” opportunities in “small” possibilities also reflects the difficulty of finding a market for pressure sensors in the aerospace industry.

The aerospace market is a huge market, but also a high-end market, and the civil aviation market is even more so, but safety is the most important factor in the aviation market. Look at the major foreign aerospace suppliers have decades or even hundreds of years of R & D and production experience, we Chinese companies to enter this market, really need to have long-term preparation and long-term planning. It is almost impossible to “instant noodle” style development, “bend the road to overtake” must find a new theory or concept. Opportunities , likewise, reflect the difficulty of finding a market for pressure sensors in the aerospace sector.

The giants of the aerospace market have high technology and sophisticated products, and are thus able to dominate a large part of today's market, even becoming “political weapons of war for the state”. Take a look at the following two companies, both sanctioned by the Chinese government and both are relatively large weapons suppliers. They have their own booths and are not allowed to visit without an invitation. They are also major sponsors of major air shows around the world.

There weren't a lot of Chinese companies attending the Farnborough International AirShow in the UK , with 12 companies from Shaanxi. The other provinces combined had less than ten, with COMAC occupying the larger area, and another Chinese company from Deyang, FF Forging Future, which provides forging parts, also stood out, as they are able to provide round forgings with a diameter of more than two meters.

The aerospace market has a very long industry chain, some even have four or five levels of suppliers, our sensors or pressure sensors as the most basic sensing elements, although very important, but to enter the different supply chain, it really needs a long time of hard work and firm patience. I'm afraid that without 5 or 6 years of persistence and relentless work, to open up this high-end market, or to face a lot of problems. This point still reminds me of Nanjing GaoHua Company CEO Li Weiping , their pressure sensors are mainly used in the Chinese aerospace industry, or admirable, respectable, worth learning.

At the Farnborough International AirShow in the UK, many countries participated in the show in the form of national groups, among which the United States had the most booths in Halls 1 and 2, and the security companies belonging to the U.S. Department of Defense also came to the show. In addition, most of the U.S. companies directly and indirectly refused to cooperate with Chinese companies, especially in the field of security, which is not a hint of the beginning of the exchange of high-tech products between the U.S. and China “off the chain of hook”, whether it is also the behavior of the state, is not known.

Next to our booth was this Swiss company manufacturing a hybrid 30-seat airplane, and I was very impressed with what they were doing. At the same time, they were looking for investors, media promotion, suppliers, and most of all, commercial customers, because the target date for their product to get a flight certificate is 2028. Whether this is a general rule for commercial flight manufacturers is not known, and whether our country's C919 did the same thing back then? Can this common practice be applied to our sensor industry?

There's a lot of flying going on today, so let's see how many people show up in the parking lot early in the morning! Take the free ferry to the main gate. There's a long line! This afternoon's crowd is sure to fill the field, with benches set up early in the morning, which is a bit different than the last few days.

Ha ha ha ha! Just when I was sitting in the booth and writing the article, a Turkish customer came to me today, needing 500Bar pressure sensor, send me the detailed technical information by email to communicate.
