Small Talk about Sensor While Travelling (143)

Today is the 6th day of the Paris Air Show, which is the second day to the end. It is Saturday and the second day of the public open day. In the morning, visitors who entered the air show from Gate O were so crowded that it took Gu Ge a full 50 minutes from starting lineup to entering the terminal area.

In the first four days of the professional exhibition, most of the people who line up every day were in suits and tie, and few people were wearing T-shirts, and they had to wear exhibition certificates on their chests.

Today is indeed reversed, and there are almost no one in the crowd who wears suits. They are all casual clothes and T-shirts, and there are more children. Some families of four or five come to visit the air show together, which also shows the enthusiasm of many French people to watch the air show at their doorstep.

Today, most exhibitors have withdrawn their exhibitions, leaving behind some exhibitors with whole-machine products, mainly for amateurs to see, such as drones, large aircraft, and other whole-machine products that ordinary audiences can understand.

Before Brother Gu left in the morning, he imagined that today's exhibition would be to popularize sensors for some students or amateurs, which also gave French audiences some understanding of Chinese sensors and had a little impression of ChinaStar, a company that makes sensors in Xi'an, China. As a result, I was overjoyed and there was a customer who came to communicate.

Today, Sunday, June 22, 2025, on the last day of the air show, Gu Ge gave a personal version of the air show a concise summary and thoughts.

First, the Paris Air Show is known as the world's largest air show. As far as I'm concerned, whether it is the participating companies or products exhibited in all aspects, it feels that the scale of the Van Paul Air Show in the UK last year is about the same as last year's. The biggest thing seems to be that the United States' national pavilions occupy more area and more exhibitors.

Second, the Paris Air Show used to focus on commercial aircraft, machines and accessories. This time it seems to have expanded the scale. There are more products related to various military aircraft and security. As the French Minister of Economy said, the 2025 Air Show has turned more to exhibitors in defense and security, and AVIC's participation illustrates this.

Third, the London Air Show is 5 days, the China Zhuhai Air Show is 6 days, and the Paris Air Show is 7 days. It feels like the time is long, and the exhibitors' effectiveness has not improved significantly, which may be more conducive to public opening days and sell more tickets.

Fourth, if it is possible to hope that Chinese companies can display together in the form of national pavilions, rather than distributed in various pavilions, they can show the overall achievements of China's aerospace industry in all aspects such as complete machines, spare parts, materials, etc., and more people are paying attention to the company. Brother Gu met two local college students in Paris, France and asked about their opportunities to work in China at the booth. Chinese enterprises gathered together and participated in the exhibition in the form of a national pavilion. I don’t know which government department or large association could organize it.

Fifth, except for AVIC and COMAC, Chinese exhibitors are all exhibitors for materials and spare parts. It is very difficult for these companies to truly enter large-scale whole-machine companies in Europe and the United States, such as Boeing, Airbus, etc. Because the industrial chain of the aviation industry is very long, and at the bottom of the industrial chain, we must integrate into intermediate suppliers and enterprises to enter the middle or final end. Most of these first-level and second-level suppliers are controlled by European and American consortiums, which takes a long time.

Sixth, the airplane performance at the Paris Air Show seems to be less than the airplane at the Famburger Air Show in the UK, especially the flight of the main battle plane, which is much less than the flight performance at the Zhuhai Air Show in China, and the viewing is not very high.

Seventh, innovation in the aerospace manufacturing industry seems to be more difficult than ordinary civilian industries because it involves safety and reliability. Some of the latest technologies today, such as new materials, new spare parts, 5G communications, artificial intelligence, big data, etc., may take longer to use in the aerospace field, and it will be more difficult to penetrate.

Eighth, in the aviation field, the technology blockade or decoupling of China by major European and American powers can be reflected in the air show. Military aviation is basically completely decoupled from China, and civil aviation shows caution, arrogance and negligence.

Ninth, the drones exhibited at this year's Air Show are not large enough, not large enough, from the exhibitors, or from the variety, variety, and scale of drones. Compared with the air show in Zhuhai, China last year, there are very few, and it can be said that it is rare and a drop in the bucket. It can be seen that the development of Chinese drones is indeed the best in the world.

Tenth, the world's largest Paris Air Show is comparing the world's largest consumer electronics exhibition (CES in the United States), the world's largest industrial exhibition (Hannover Industrial Exhibition in Germany), the exhibition booth area, the number of exhibitors, and the types and number of exhibitors. From one aspect, China is far behind European and American technology and industry in aviation.
